| Dear
Members and Guests
On behalf of the Executive Committee I am delighted to
welcome you to the 7th meeting of the Society in Chantilly,
France. We sincerely hope you will find the scientific meeting
intellectually rewarding and the group social activities
most enjoyable.
The two mini-symposia to be presented represent a departure
from traditional free papers, and are intended to provoke
insightful and stimulating discussions. The first, dealing
with “Standards”, should at least cause all
to give this issue some much needed attention and thought.
The second, a summary of recent randomized trials, will
crystallize what we have learned, or not learned, from numerous
important recent efforts to clarify important glaucoma topics.
The relatively unique features of this Society’s
meetings continue to include its relatively small size,
meeting locations facilitating close scientific and social
interactions, and above all, a membership including the
world’s most influential glaucoma “thought leaders”.
We are especially fortunate this year to have Douglas Anderson,
a long-time member of the Society, as our third Goldmann
Lecturer.
I am honored to have served as the Society’s President
during the last five years, and look forward to continuing
involvement in its activities in the future.
